Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / November 2023

I don't know where the time went .. This past year has flown by !!  4 weeks until Christmas and here we are again - the Crafty Elves - AND we have a very special Guest Elf. Amy Tsuruta is an amazing papeecrafter and the force behind the Coffee Loving Papercrafters page on Facebook !! She just finished up the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and was gracious enough to agree to join us . I really can't say enough nice things about her .. I'm excited to see what she creates for us this month .

There are so many new Christmas stamps in my stash .. I had a hard time deciding which ones to use for this post .. But finally Tim Holz's Christmas Cartoons won . I love these stamps . They remind me of the Jetsons !!

  • I stamped the images on white Mixed Media paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink .
  • The sentiments were stamped last, using my MISTI for proper placement.
  • The images were colored in with my COPICS.
  • I adhered pieces of some hoarded Tim Holtz Christmas patterned paper to a powder blue and a bright green card base,
  • I matted each of the completed stamped panels with green cardstock
  • The stamped panels were popped up on the card bases with foam tabs.
  • I placed a silver glitter mini clothes pin at the top of the stamped panel on the powder blue card base .

These images were so quick and easy to color !! I know I will be making many more this holiday season. Now it's time to see what the rest of the Crafty Elves have created .. You can find them at the links below -

We hope that you like our creations for November. Thanks so much to Amy for joining us  I will be sending some holiday blog candy to 1 commeter on this post .. I'll choose someone at random .. Let me know if you've started on your holiday cards yet. If you haven't, you might want to make a resolution for 2024 to follow us each month for inspiration !!

Until next time, Stay Creative

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / February 2023

Hard to believe that it is the end of February. The Crafty Elves are getting started on their holiday cards for 2023 and bringing you inspiration each month to create some of your own.  I have been a fan of Art Impressions for years, especially their Windows to the World series. This month, I used the Christmas Drive Window stamp and created 2 cards - one with a traditional color scheme and one non-traditional.

For both of my cards I used the beautiful Noel paper pad by Craft Consortium. This pad has such beautiful papers that I just wanted to hoard it but I finally broke down and decided to use it this month.  This pad has 40 double-sided sheets of heavyweight cardstock.

  • I stamped the image onto a piece of mixed-media paper and a piece of watercolor paper and trimmed around the design.
  • The images were colored with COPIC markers.
  • Fine glitter was used for snow on the red truck image.
  • Holographic glitter was used for snow on the turquoise truck image .
  • The completed red truck image was matted on a piece of gold glitter paper and then adhered to a piece of floral patterned paper with foam tabs. It was then placed on a green card base.
  • The completed turquoise truck image was matted on a piece of silver glitter paper and then adhered to a piece of holiday patterned paper. It was then placed on a turquoise card base .

Do you like traditional colors for your holiday cards ?? Or do you create with non-traditional colors ?? I guess I am a fan of both, depending  on which stamp I am using . Let's take a look at what the other Crafty Elves have created for February,

Michael Trent - World of Michael Trent

Misty Lavigne - Jolly Fat Elf

Lisa Reynolds-Bzibziak - Life of a BZ Scrapper

Thanks so much for stopping by .. We will be here every month to share our holiday ideas with you and get you ready to create some of your own.

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / January 2023

The Crafty Elves are back to start off your New Year with some holiday inspiration !! It was nice to have a stash of cards for the 2022 holiday season, so we decided to come back again for 2023.  We will all be posting at least 1 card and if we are extra creative, there might be additional cards. Did you make your holiday cards throughout 2022 with us ?? Or was there a mad rush to make some and then a quick trip to the store or  maybe Amazon for last minute cards ?? I will admit that I did hit the Hallmark after-Christmas sale and bought cards, coffee cups and a nightshirt !!

To kick off 2023, we have a Guest Elf !! Chris Franco is a fabulous papercrafter and most importantly, my dear friend .. She is a consultant for Close To My Heart and that link will take you to a wonderful world of stamps, paper, etc. !!! She is my CTMH enabler and knows just what I can't live without .. It is also her birthday this month - January 23 - so we wish her a wonderful birthday month !! I hope it was filled with fun, family AND cake !! Here are Chris's  social media links . Please take a look at her  wonderful creativity ..

For my card this month, I chose a favorite Close To My Heart stamp/die set - WINTER IN A BOTTLE. It's no longer available but there are 100's of other wonderful holiday sets by CTMH . They also have the most amazing sales throughout the year and believe me, I have shopped many of them !! The card that I made is a CASE card . I saw a card made by another CTMH consultant  - Kristina Baldwin -  and fell in love with it .. So, thank you so much for the inspiration, Kristina !!

  • I stamped the Skyline and Jar from "Winter in a Bottle" on watercolor paper with a Memento Jet Black ink pad .
  • The snowflakes were also stamped on watercolor paper with Memento Dew Drop inks - Teal Zeal & Summer Sky .
  • The jar, skyline and snowflakes were die cut with the matching dies.
  • I cut the sky backdrop from a piece of white glitter paper also with a die from the Winter in a Bottle set .
  • The sentiment was stamped in Nautical Blue Memento ink and then cut into a banner shape .
  • I adhered a piece of checked paper from the Echo Park "Home Again" 6x6 paper pad onto the lower right side of a  pale green card base.
  • The skyline image was colored with my COPICS.
  • The glitter sky and stamped skyline were adhered inside the jar.
  • I tied a piece of Christmas twine around the neck of the stamped jar and then adhered it to the checked panel .
  • Rhinestones were placed at the center of the snowflakes and then I adhered them around the completed stamped image,
  • The sentiment was adhered to the checked panel .
  • 2 clear rhinestones were placed down the top left side of the card base .

Michael, Lisa and Misty are also welcoming 2023 with me . We will be back each month on the 25th to inspire you to start on your holiday cards .. It was nice to have a stash this past holiday when it was time to start mailing out cards!! Please take a look at the other Crafty Elf creations .. I'm sure that they are all fabulous as always !!

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / November 2022

I really do not know where this year went !! The thought of Christmas being only 1 month away is hard to believe. My 46 year old son Carter died in a car accident on 12/23/21and this past year has been hard to navigate.. Being creative has literally been a lifesaver to me, along with family and friends who have stood by my side. I haven't blogged as much as I usually do but looked forward to our Crafty Elf post each month. This month's cards of mine are a tongue-in-cheek guide to surviving the holidays..

For my 2 cards I used stamp sets from Jaded Blossom Stamps . I have to thank my creative, coffee loving friend Vanessa Buzard for the inspiration for my cards . She used one of the stamps sets recently and I loved it so much that I bought it  !! Plus another one that  I also used for a card today.

  • I stamped the image from Santa Latte on a piece of cream cardstock with Jet Black Archival Ink .
  • The image was colored with my COPICS .
  • I matted the stamped image with a piece of red cardstock .
  • A piece of scrap glittered holly paper was adhered to a green card base .
  • The stamped panel was popped up on the bottom left corner of the card with foam tabs  .

  • The Surviving Christmas image was stamped on cream cardstock. The bottle was stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink and the sentiment with a Bamboo Leaves Memento Dew Drop ink .
  • I colored the image with my COPICS.
  • The stamped panel was adhered to a turquoise mat .
  • A piece of scrap color-block paper was adhered to a Kraft card base .
  • The stamped panel was popped up in the center of the card with foam tabs.
  • Rhinestones in coordinating color were adhered randomly around the stamped panel.

So, that is my guide to surviving the holidays. Coffee to get the day started and help keep me awake to finish all those projects I have started !! And maybe just one drink or two when things get a bit stressful - like maybe when I'm addressing my last minute holiday cards !!!

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / October 2022

I'm back with my Crafty Elf friends to show you our cards for October .. And we have a new addition to our family - Misty Lavigne.  Also known as the Jolly Fat Elf , she has been our guest in the past but now will be joining us each month with her fabulous creations. Please welcome her by going to her blog post and commenting on her cards .. We are so happy to have you with us, Misty !!

I have created 1 card for October. We have each decided to create at least 1 card every month going forward, but there may be times when we make more. Somehow the month got away from me and  I feel lucky to have created this 1. I hope that you like it as much as I do ..

  • I used paper and die cut shapes from the Spellbinders Joyful Christmas collection.
  • On a piece of pastel plaid paper with gold highlights, I adhered several die cut shapes - a Nutcracker, gifts, a tree, a star, an ornament, a mouse, a branch and a poinsettia .
  • The 3 gifts die cut was popped up in front of the other images with foam tabs.
  • I used a sentiment from the Winter Mega Paper Pad from Echo Park Paper and adhered it at the top Right next to the Ornament and branch die cut .

Sometimes a card comes together without the need for any stamping and this was 1 of those !! The collection had everything I needed. And I can always count on Echo Park for the perfect sentiment.  I'm sure that my fellow elves have come up with some amazing creations as always,  so please take a look at their blogs/videos also .

Here we are with another year of Crafty Elves !! Michael, Lisa and I will each be bringing you 4 holiday cards every month on the 25th. We aim to be ready for the Christmas / holiday rush and have at least  44 cards made to address and send. We hope that we inspire you to make some along with us .

My post will be short and sweet. All of the papers that I used were in my scrap stash. I used a variety of my favorite stamps - digi, and clear . Two of the cards were made with stamp/die sets . I usually fussy-cut but these were too cute to resist ( and I got them on sale !! ) All coloring was done with my Copics and Flair pens .

Stamp used -

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / December 2021

Of course, I am hustling to get a few presents wrapped and some cards finished for my guy. So this post will be very short and sweet... Am I the only one that makes many cards for others but then doesn't have one for my own family member ?!?! I think a good New Year's Resolution would be to keep a box of cards just for Brian so I can have one when needed. Thank you all for joining us each month as we bring you our holiday inspiration. I hope that you will come back each month next year as Lisa, Michael and I continue our Crafty Elf tradition .

My first mini-slimline card is my take on the Ugly Christmas Sweater theme !! I love these sweaters but cannot for the life of me find the stamp set I used... So I can't remember who makes it . But the cute Holly Jolly sticker is from Paper House Productions .

Next is a card made with an image from A Winter Hello, Girl from Angie Blom Digital Designs .This is also a mini-slimline card and was so easy to color for a quick card !!

The Christmas Patchwork collection from Stamperia was used to make this next card and I absolutely love it !! There is no stamping on this card  - just paper and chipboard die-cuts.

My last card features a new stamp from Unity Stamp Company - Joy, Peace & Comfort Mug .This is a sweet stamp that is so easy to color .. I absolutely love it !!

I wanted to show my favorite cards again that Michael and Lisa made this past year. It goes without saying that I LOVE all of them but these 2 stand out for me.

From Michael in March 2021

From Lisa in June 2021

Be sure to take a look at Michael and Lisa's cards for December .. Thanks so much for letting us inspire you all year long.  Have you been making your cards throughout the year ?? Or is there a mad dash at the beginning of December ??? Please everyone have a safe, happy and healthy holiday .. We hope you will join us back here in 2022 ..

Crafty Elves Countdown to Christmas / November 2021

Just think -- this time next month, we will be celebrating Christmas .. I'm so glad that Lisa, Michael and I have continued making our cards all year long. I've been addressing mine too and that really does  helps me stay organized and on track  .. I randomly chose Sue D from the October Crafty Elf comments and will be sending her some holiday happy mail !!

My first card features a really sweet stamp from Unity Stamp Company - Lillith Whimsy { Magic Happens }  She is so cute and I had fun making her into a Christmas Fairy !!

  • I stamped ( with Gina K Jet Black Amalgam Ink  ) and fussy-cut Lillith .
  • The fairy was colored with my COPICS,
  • I adhered a piece of patterned paper from the North Pole Gazette paper pad by Recollections onto a Kraft card base.
  • The fairy was adhered on the right side of the card.
  • Her wings and skirt ruffle were glittered with fine, white glitter .
  • A gold metallic square was placed at the top left of the  patterned paper.
  • A Christmas postmark, cut from the patterned paper I used, was popped up on the gold square with a foam tab.

This next card was made with one of my favorite new stamps !!  A free digi stamp from Not 2 Shabby - Have a Cup of Cheer . I have made so many cards with this stamp - traditional holiday colors, non-traditional colors, with tinsel added and without .. I love this stamp and hope you do too !! You can create so many different ways with this stamp !!

  • I printed the digi image onto an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock - with 4 images on the page - then trimmed it to fit my A2 card .
  • The image was colored with my COPICS .
  • I adhered the image to a scrap piece of blue paper with glittered highlights.
  • I used a Kraft card base for this card .

I absolutely love this next card . Deer always remind me of growing up in Pennsylvania - snowy winters with my family . This stamp from Red Lead Paperworks - 2 Deer - is just beautiful .

  • The 2 Deer image from Red Lead Paperworks was stamped on Mixed Media paper with Gina K Jet Black Amalgam ink .
  • I matted the stamped panel with a rose colored paper and then adhered that to a pink snowflake-patterned paper .
  • The 2 Deer image was colored with my COPICS.
  • I adhered a piece of pastel brush tree paper to a Kraft card base . Tree and snowflake paper were from a Recollections Sugarplum paperpad .
  • The deer panel was then adhered onto the Kraft card base .

This next image from Angie Blom Digital Designs is included in a fabulous new set called  A Winter Hello, Girl . It has images for regular and slimline cards, as well as several sentiments . I loved coloring these images  and making this mini-slimline with a sheet of 6 x 6 paper.

  • I printed the A Winter Hello, Girl image on Mixed Media paper and then colored it with my COPICS .
  • The completed stamped panel was adhered to a piece of 6 x 6 plaid patterned paper . I have many 6 x 6 paper pads and they are perfect for making many quick mini slimline cards !!
  • A Tim Holtz sticker sentiment was adhered on the upper left of the panel.
  • Several Tim Holtz Holiday Stars were placed on the card panel .

I want to thank everyone who has followed the Crafty Elves this year as we've worked on our holiday cards. Take a look at what Michael and Lisa have created this and let them know which cards are your favorites ..

Michael Trent - World of Michael Trent
Lisa Bzibziak-Reynolds - Life of a BZ Scrapper

I hope that you are all having a wonderful Thanksgiving and that even in this crazy time of COVID, you can find something to be thankful for . I look forward to seeing you here next month with my wrap-up post for the year !!

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / October 2021

In a few short months, the holidays will be here .. And I will be so glad that I have been making holiday cards all year long !! Have you started yours ?? Michael, Lisa and I have been posting every month on the 25th as we've created a holiday card each week throughout the year .. This month we have a Guest Elf and I'm sure she has some fabulous cards to share with us .. Terri Albro Burson is a talented papercrafter, mixed-media artist and designer . We met through our love of paper back in 2014 when I was chosen to be on the Design Team ( my first ) of Mountain Plains Crafters. Terri and a few friends had created an online community and I was lucky enough to become a part of it . She has worked with many amazing companies, most recently as a 2021 Guest Artist for Ranger Ink . I'm sure that she is just as thrilled to be joining us as a Crafty Elf this month !!

My first card features the cutest Christmas Bird stamp from Impression Obsession  . It was on clearance a few months ago, but they have tons of other fabulous stamps for you to choose from .  This stamp was designed by my friend Lindsay Ostrom.

  • I stamped Christmas Bird on Strathmore Mixed Media Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink .
  • A square scalloped-edge die was used to die-cut the bird image for the card front.
  • I colored the bird image with my COPICS, Sharpies & Flair pens.
  • A piece of Tim Holtz Christmas washi tape was placed across the center of a piece of green musical notes patterned paper from a Craft Smart "Classic Vintage" paper pad.
  • The musical notes panel was adhered to a Kraft card base.
  • I popped up the completed bird die-cut with foam tabs for some added dimension .

My next 3 cards were made with the Elfmas Volumes 1 & 2 stamp sets from Ink Road Stamps .It's no secret that Elf is one of my favorite movies and I couldn't wait to ink up these stamps !! I think I know each and every line from the movie word for word. My guy, Brian even got an ELF costume one year during the holidays and came to the hospital where I work to surprise me when I was the ICU Manager . We walked around the different floors and sang Christmas carols with some of the staff and patients !!  A great Christmas memory ..

  • I stamped ELF  on the left side of a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media paper  with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the sentiment on the right side with Memento Lady Bug & Bamboo Leaves. I masked the sentiment on the diagonal to get the color blend exactly right . And I love how it turned out .
  • I found a scrap of paper that reminded me of Gingerbread houses & their icing and cut a strip to fit down the left side of a Kraft card base.
  • The completed stamped panel was adhered next to the patterned strip.

  • I stamped ELF in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the sentiment below that with Memento Lady Bug ink  on Strathmore Mixed Media paper.
  • I placed a strip of red snowflake washi in between ELF and the sentiment.
  • The stamped panel was adhered to a red cardstock mat .
  • A beautiful floral card base was a pretty touch for this card .

  • I stamped the 4 Main Food Groups sentiment onto a piece of Mixed Media paper with Tuxedo Black ink.
  • I colored the image with my COPICS.
  • The stamped image was matted on a piece of red cardstock.
  • I adhered a piece of scrap glittery gumdrop paper to a bright blue card base.
  • The completed stamped panel was then popped up onto the gumdrops with Foam tabs. I love how bright and colorful this card is !!

Please take a look at the other Crafty Elf cards over at their blog posts for much more holiday inspiration. And don't miss what our Guest Elf has created for us, because I'm sure it is fantastic !! A big Thank-You to Terri for joining us this month ..

Crafty Elves' Countdown to Christmas / September 2021

It's time for the September edition of Crafty Elves And today it is finally cooler here. I actually put a sweater on this morning to run to the store !! Of course, this afternoon it is fairly warm again but I am not complaining .. Are you enjoying some cooler temps where you are ??? Pretty soon I will be turning on the Christmas music while I make my cards . Do you do that  ?? Have you been working on your holiday cards along with us ??

My first card just started as a quick idea when I spotted the stamp on my shelf one day. The Flight of Fancy stamp by Printworks Collection is an older wood-mounted staamp that I have had for years . The snowman reminded me of the letter "O" and I came up with the idea to use letters to form a holiday word.

  • I stamped the snowman with Gina K Jet Black Amalgam Ink onto a piece of scrap paper that had that cute border already at the top. I had already lined up the letters so I could be sure they fit on the panel.
  • Cosmo Cricket "Jolly by Golly" adhesive chipboard letters were placed on the panel to spell out the word "NOEL".  I placed 2 peppermint dots at the end, mainly because I had leftover space ..
  • The snowman was colored with Flair pens.
  • I placed a strip of thin green checked washi above the snowman image .
  • A piece of snowy glitter washi was adhered across the bottom of the stamped panel and then a piece of red scalloped washi was placed along the bottom of the word "NOEL".

For my other cards, I used the cutest set from Close To My Heart - Winter Penguins .These images are so easy to fussy-cut and color.  My plan was to make 1 card with this set but I ended up making 4 !!

  • I again used Gina K Jet Black Amalgam Ink for my remaining cards . The Sweater Penguin was fussy-cut and then colored with my Copics.
  • The sentiment was stamped near the top of a piece of snowflake patterned paper from the Craft Smith "Gingerbread Cottage" paper pad.
  • The penguin was adhered below the sentiment with foam tabs.
  • I adhered a piece of blue glitter paper onto a white card base at an angle.
  • The completed penguin panel was adhered on top of the glitter paper.

  • I folded a piece of snowflake patterned paper from the Craft Smith "Shimmer Noel" paper pad to make a mini slimline card. It already had the Merry and Bright wording and the snowflakes on it. I used a 6x6 paper pad and it creates  a perfect 6x3 mini slimline when folded.
  • The sentiment was stamped near the top of the card base. I colored the letters with a Flair pen
  • The Skating Penguin was fussy-cut and colored and then adhered above the sentiment with foam tabs.
  • I placed a strip of the red scalloped washi above the sentiment.
  • I love slimline cards but tend to be intimidated by a full size slimline. The minis are just the right size for my creative mind.

  • I fussy-cut and colored the Penguin  with Present and adhered it to the right side of a piece of silver striped glitter paper from the Shimmer Noel paper pad.  The penguin was popped up with  foam tabs . The paper was cut to fit on a mini slimline card base.
  • The sentiment was stamped on a tag from the Gingerbread Cottage pad and colored with Flair pens.
  • I adhered the sentiment on the left side of the silver glitter panel.
  • The completed panel was adhered to a green mini-slimline card base.

  • I got carried away with these penguins and even made a 5th card . And I think this last one is my favorite !! I fussy-cut and colored the Penguin with Glasses.
  • I adhered the penguin at the top of a snowflake -patterned panel with foam tabs after stamping the sentiment onto the panel.
  • At the bottom of the panel, I adhered a wide strip of glitter washi that is patterned to look like a snowy forest scene. This washi is absolutely beautiful and I cannot for the life of me remember where I got it !!
  • Above the glitter washi, I adhered several white, silver and blue sequins
  • The completed panel was adhered to a white mini slimline card base.
I hope you like the cards I have created this month. We are getting down to the last few months before the holidays !! Please take a look at what Michael and Lisa have created . I'm sure they are amazing as usual !!
