Coffee and Cards with Deb and Celeste / July 2020

Here we are another month into our COVID-19 world and I was happy to be blogging with Celeste this weekend.  It gives me something to focus on besides what design mask I will wear next or should I really really venture out to the grocery store again !! This month we decided to do a Christmas in July post .. Many companies are having Christmas in July sales, there is a blog hop going on and even a few Facebook pages are focused on holiday card-making ..

For my card this time, I used an Inked Girl stamp "Becky" from Ink Road Stamps . It was their December 2019 Inked Girl .They are limited edition and there is a new one released each month. I thought that this one was perfect for the times we are in .... Normal anxiety, COVID anxiety, holiday anxiety. And then there is always hurricane anxiety !!  I will admit I am a bit of a worrier.

It's time to switch
from my regular anxiety
To my fancy
holiday anxiety

  • I stamped Becky and the sentiment onto Strathmore Marker paper with Gina K Amalgam Ink.
  • The image was colored with Copics.
  • I cut banners from multiple patterns of holiday paper and stapled them to the left side of the stamped image.
  • I adhered the image to a piece of red dotted paper and  then that piece to a pink card base.
  • The sentiment was popped up with foam tabs.
Celeste has created a fun card over at her blog - Stamping Junky . Please take a look and leave her a comment. We would love for you to sign up to follow us each month.  This month I will be sending some holiday mail to one lucky commenter on this blog post .. I'll choose 1 person at random on August 1. So be sure to comment here !!

This month I'm drinking some  Hostess SnoBall Coffee in a beautiful holiday cup I got last year from Rifle Paper Company.  The coffee is chocolate, vanilla and coconut flavored.. Tastes just like a cupcake !!

Thank you for visiting Meticulosity once again . I hope that you are ALL staying safe and healthy.  I'm looking forward to the day when I can take my coffee picture at my local coffee shop while I hang out !! Until next time, stay creative !!

July Cookies / Take 1

Challenge #147 at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie has the cutest inspiration picture !! And I had a perfect stamp  set to use for it.  It's been a crazy day here. It's 100 degrees and our power has been out for about 4 hours. There was a traffic accident listed as the cause and we also had a crazy storm blow through here about the same time.  So this post will be short and sweet.. The power just came back on so I want to finish this before something else happens !!

The Inspiration

My card

  • I used Fun Stampers Journey "Button Bliss". The pincushion and buttons were stamped on a variety of papers.
  • Images were colored with my Copics and Tombows.
  • I fussy-cut or paper-punched all of the buttons.
  • 2 sewing pins were pierced through the paper "into" the pincushion.
  • On a pink-patterned card base, I adhered a piece of vintage-patterned paper.
  • The pinusion image was adhered in the center of the vintage paper.
  • I used foam dots to adhere several of the buttons for some added depth.
This was a fun card to make. I'm sure the other Design Team members have created some amazing projects.. Please take a look at them all HERE .  We would love for you to link up a creation of your own before August 6. Thank you for visiting Meticulosity .. I am tired of staying at home and of wearing a mask everywhere I go, but we need to be safe and get through this !! And now, I am excruciatingly hot and want a nice , tall, cool drink !! Everyone please stay safe..

Fairy Orbs & Fairy Hugs

I've been busy with work and on my days off, I'm not feeling very creative. But Lavinia World is now carrying a new line of stamps - Fairy Hugs . They are not part of the Lavinia Stamps line - they are their own fantastic collection !! I was lucky enough to be sent several to create with and I decided to make a few bookmarks. I used the  Fairy Orbs stamps by Lavinia World along with several of the new Fairy Hugs stamps listed below .

 .

I stamped the net twice on watercolor paper and then cut them into 4 bookmarks.  The Mini Fairy Hugs stamps were also stamped on watercolor paper, then fussy-cut. The Fairy Orbs were stamped on various scraps of Lavinia World papers and then cut out or paper-punched .  I adhered nautical-themed washi to the left edge of each bookmark.  The shells, turtle and fairy orbs were adhered to the bookmarks with thin foam tabs. They add a bit of dimension to the bookmarks but aren't too thick when you close a book on them .. On the backs of the bookmarks, I adhered lined paper and more nautical washi . I like to keep track of books I've read or sometimes characters in books  and I can easily do this on the backs of these bookmarks ..

I had such fun making these bookmarks !! Thanks again to Lavinia World for allowing me to work with these new Fairy Hugs stamps. Take a look at these and all of the wonderful products here . I was Guest Designer for Lavinia World in June and will be back for their first challenge in August.

Thank you for visiting Meticulosity .
Until next time, stay creative !!

July Cookies - Take 1

Do you think of Lemonade when you think of Summer ??  Well, If You Give a Crafter a Cookie does and that is the theme of their latest challenge.. I knew the exact stamp I wanted to use - it was perfect !!

My friend Nola Chandler designs for Impression Obsession and her fun stamp Lilly Lemonade was the first thought that popped into my head when I saw this challenge's theme ..

  • I cut 2 coordinating pieces of patterned paper from the Recollections "Mint To Be"  paper pad to fit on the front of an ombre' yellow card base.
  • I colored the Lilly Lemonade image with my Copic markers, trimmed the image ( leaving only a small margin ) and adhered it toward the top of the patterned paper with foam dots.
  • A Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker was placed at the bottom right of the stamped image.
  • The glass of lemonade is a sticker from the Drinks sticker pad by Me & My Big Ideas.

I can't wait to see what yummy creations my teammates have come up with for this summery challenge !! Head over to the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie BLOG to check them all out. We're all into month 4 of social-distancing and mask-wearing.. How are you all doing ?? Are you being more creative or finding yourself in a crafty funk ??  We would love for you to link up a project of your own by August 5 . Please take care of yourselves and I will see you in a few weeks for the next challenge.

Day 1 - 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Today starts the 30 Day Coloring Challenge from Kathy Racoosin and you all know how much I love to color, so I decided to play along !! My friend Michael Trent  - World of Michael Trent  is his fantastic blog - colors brilliantly and we have agreed to try to post every day . It doesn't have to be anything elaborate - you can color just a flower or a coffee cup or whatever - the point is to have fun, relax and not stress about it !! I will be posting every day on IG ( fingers crossed ) and maybe a few times during the month here on my blog. You can find me on IG  -  @djdavison814 . Michael is @worldofmichaeltrent . For my first project, I got out a vintage Paula Best  Knowledge Cube  .. She has always been one of my favorite artists !! I colored these images with my new Copic Ciao markers. They will be made into a birthday card for a dear friend ..

Thanks for stopping by !! I hope you will drop by my IG page and follow me so you can see my 30 Days of Coloring .. By the end of the month, I hope to have 30 cards/card fronts finished ..  Pull out your markers and some stamped images or a coloring book and relax. It's going to be a fun month !! You can also check out Kathy Racoosin at her blog - The Daily Marker . She has amazing tutorials and videos !!
