Sharing My heART

It's no secret that I love the art of letter writing. I absolutely love Snail Mail and connecting with friends near and far by mail. One of the projects I always look forward to being involved in is the Global Postcard Art Swap ( heART exchange ) . They have exchanges 3-4 times a year and you are given 3 people to send handmade postcards to. The theme for this swap was Nature Quotes. My postcards this time are being sent to Mexico, Wisconsin and Georgia.

• The beautiful floral design from Stampendous was stamped onto some old dictionary pages, a wood grain paper and also some patterned paper.
• I fussy cut the flowers from the patterned papers and adhered them to the stamped images on the dictionary pages. 
• The quote was printed from my computer. I have always loved this quote - it reminds me to relax and breathe !! Everything happens in its own time. 
• I adhered the dictionary pages to plain kraft postcards that I purchased on Amazon. 50 postcards for $9.99. A great deal and my favorites to create with !!
• The leaves were colored with various green shades of Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens.
• I adhered the quote to the postcards and then added some borders from a Tim Holtz "Scallops" On The Edge die.
• Using my MISTI, I stamped another favorite quote from a Stampin' Up set on the opposite side  of the postcard.
• I placed the postcards in clear envelopes and sent them on their way .

November Hop with Skipping Stones

We are heading into the holiday season and there is so  much to be thankful for. But I am mostly thankful that the elections are over. Whatever the outcome, we all have to make the best of it.. And after having a bad case of the ? flu/strep throat, I am ready to be creative again. You should have arrived here from Jessie's blog. She has a fabulous card with the cutest holiday image !! Here's a hint -- Meow !!

For the Hop today, I wanted to get into the holiday spirit and Think Snow... Not that I want any, but it is beautiful and does make for a great card. Any reason to use glittery paper !!

• I started with a Kraft card base and cut some silver and white glitter paper into hills. Before adhering them, I stamped one of the cute snowmen ( or snow-women ) from the Sassy Snow stamp set onto the card base in the exact spot I had chosen to match with the hills. I used Memories Black India Ink.
• Using a square of paper from my Merry Little Christmas paper pad by My Mind's Eye, I placed 3 cute little trees on the left side of the card behind the hills.
• A strip of paper - also from Merry Little Christmas- was adhered to the top of the card and I placed turquoise, pink and green rhinestones across the  scallop border. Gold rhinestones were also used at the top of the trees.
• Copic atyou Spica Glitter markers added some shimmer to the scarf, mittens and nose. Several snowflakes from my embellishment stash completed the card.

Of course, I couldn't just post the winner without making another card.... How simple is this one ?!?! A Starbucks coffee info card, the free Verve digis and a bit of background paper from a very old GCD Studios paper pad is all it took..  Plus a bit of a Clear Glitter Wink of Stella brush. And of course, a kraft card base... Don't you just love Kraft, especially this time of year ???

GIU Day 1 - I'm Feeling Blu

This week I am the Growing in Unity gal for Unity Stamp Company and will be sharing a new project every day -- Monday through Friday. My Wednesday project will also be featured on the Unity blog. I will admit that one of the hardest parts of being the GIU gal was choosing the stamps for my projects... I finally narrowed it down by picking 5 of my favorite Unity designers. I wanted to start journaling so I used my small paper lunch sacks as backgrounds on my pages , I embossed them , used Distress paints, added stamped images, and adhered them with washi. The paper sacks are fairly thin so they did not add too much thickness to my pages. These are my base pages. I will be adding favorite quotes, thoughts on my life and creative observations..I hope you like them..

A Card, My Friends & Friends With Flair....

dEb here with a quick card AND a way to be green all at the same time.... I absolutely love the holidays.. Christmas patterned papers, holiday rubber stamps, my new Tim Holtz poinsettia die . I love holiday lights, classic Christmas movies ( Elf and A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim )  & quirky Christmas movies ( The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Family Stone ). I am also a hoarder of Christmas cards that I receive from my friends.. There, I admitted it !! I have cards from friends near and far; and I cherish each and every one of them.. I keep them year to year but eventually do send most to the recycle bin.. Some, however, I have kept for years. This year as I was heading to recycle with last year's cards, in anticipation of receiving new ones this year, I had a thought... Why not make cards out of them ???  I know I am not the first person to do this but I think my efforts might be a bit unique. 

I started with a kraft card, got out my 1" circle punch and went to town. I used a fun sentiment from Unity Stamp Company's "Stay Cozy" and finished with a doily half and half of a 2.5" circle. The dotted paper is from We R Memory Keeper's "Winter Frost" collection. Thanks to Brian, Bonnie, Lisa, Jacky, Donna and Meredith for helping me make memories - AND cards !!

I posted the first card on the Mountain Plains Crafters blog. I am a member of their Design Team and with that, I welcomed 7 new friends into my life... This post is for all of you - Pam, Sheryl, Terri, MariLynn, Paula, Christina & Jennifer.
