It's a Girl Thing - Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop

I am so thrilled to be included in this Blog Hop to raise Awareness for Turner Syndrome.  This is a chromosomal disorder affecting only females and is due to a complete or partial absence of the 2nd sex chromosome. It only occurs in 1/2000 live female births. Short stature, social & learning difficulties and heart defects are some of the  symptoms of Turner Syndrome. You can learn more at the Turner Syndrome Society website.  I will admit that I had never even heard of Turner Syndrome until my friend Lori Kobular - who has a daughter with it - mentioned it on her Facebook page.  She is determined to increase awareness about Turner Syndrome and also the need for more research on the lifelong medical issues that impact those with this Syndrome and their families.

Turner Syndrome Awareness Official Color Board

For my card, I chose to use the colors of Turner Syndrome Awareness along with the word HOPE. The definition of HOPE is : to desire with expectation of obtainment or fulfilment . We all hope that with this Blog Hop  we will bring awareness about Turner Syndrome to the public and also emphasize the need for further research . 

• I embossed a piece of pale pink cardstock with the Darice Support Ribbon embossing folder and cut it to fit on a white A2 card base.
• I die-cut  HOPE in dark pink cardstock and the word shadow in green to highlight HOPE, using the Tonic Studios Hope metal craft dies .
• I die-cut Ellie Loves Lattes from Your Next Stamp and colored her with my favorite markers  ( Faber-Castells, Tombows & Akashiya ) in the Turner Syndrome colors.
• I adhered the pink HOPE on top of the green shadow with Art Glitter Glue .
• The completed HOPE was adhered slightly above the center of the embossed ribbon.
• I popped up  Ellie in the lower right corner with foam tabs. I think she looks so cute in her plaid skirt.

Anthony's Paper Craft Feb. 2019 New Release Blog Hop

Anthony's Paper Craft has some fabulous new stamps coming out in a February Release and this week, several members of the Design Team will be sharing a few with you.   I'm excited to see what Michael, Mary and Mike create and will add links to them at the end of this post. 

I actually chose this stamp because it reminded me of a song I heard on the TV show THE WALKING DEAD. Weeds or Wildflowers by Parsonfields is the first thought I had when I saw thie sentiment with this new stamp and I just had to use it for this Hop. 

May All Your Weeds Be Wildflowers

• I started with a 5x7 kraft card base for this card.
• Tim Holtz washi tape was placed down the Left side of the card base- a strip of dark red striped and a thin strip pf gold glitter tape.
• I stamped the flower image of the FLORAL BACKGROUND 3 stamp onto a piece of cream-colored brick patterned paper  ( found at Hobby Lobby in a single sheet ).
• The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of floral brick paper, using a piece from the Country Road Paper Pack ( also found at Hobby Lobby ) . Both were stamped with a Versafine Clair "Nocturne" ink pad .
• I colored in some of the  floral image with a variety of Tombow Dual Brush Pens . I loved the contrast of the crisp black ink on the brick wall and didn't want to color too much of the design  or make it too bright. I used colors that matched the brick pattern that the sentiment was stamped on.
• The sentiment was trimmed to fit in the space above the floral image and popped up using foam circles.

GIU Blog Hop 9/24/17

I'm participating in the Growing in Unity Blog Hop today with some other GIU girls . Please be sure to visit each blog listed below for a chance to win 1 of 2 prizes from Unity Stamp Company. It's no secret how much I love Unity stamps and the one I used today is no exception. I have had it for awhile but hadn't inked it up before. So I guess there's no time like the present !!

I love to paper-piece and this Martha Girl stamp is perfect for that !! But I really think that Angie meant to call this one "Deb Girl"... I stamped the images several times on kraft and Neenah Stardust White cardstock & then went to town coloring and paper-piecing . The woodgrain background seemed perfect for the first days of Fall and I balanced the sentiment on the left side of the image with a cute banner on the right side.

I am having fun lately with Journaling cards. I make alot of quick cards when an occasion comes up and there isn't always time for stamping,coloring etc... But you can still come up with a quick card that doesn't look quick at all. This time I used a 4x6 journal card from the Inked Rose collection by We R Memory Keepers and mounted it on a gold glitter card base. I stenciled the tea cup in Summer Sun ink and then outlined it with Taken With Teal ink -- both by Stampin' Up. The stencil is the Mini Cafe Latte by The Crafters Workshop. I punched out the teacup, placed a few sequins around the cup and offset mounted it on the Right side of the card. It is an oversized card but I will use my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board to create the perfect one !!

( Blog ) Hopping Into Spring ...

I don't know about you but I am more than ready for Spring to get here.. With the third snowfall last night here in Virginia Beach, I am now very eager to hop into Spring. And what better way than with a Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I missed the Holiday themed Hop so this time I am thrilled to be able to participate !! And now we even have a new home to post all of our coffee, tea and cocoa creations. Check out the entire Hop here  to see everyone's amazing projects and all of the wonderful sponsors. For my first card, I finally inked up a stamp that I have had for awhile. I was planning on using it for the Holiday Hop but computer issues got in the way. It is "Perk Me Up Peeps" by Stampingbella. You can't help but feel good when you see these 2 cuties !! I also used a bit of Basic Grey paper and some Robin's Nest Dew Drops in Orchid and Poinsettia.. Welcome to our anticipation of Spring !!
