Coffee & Cards With Deb & Celeste / August

I'm excited that Celeste is back for our our latest post of Coffee & Cards !! This time I chose a Sketch Challenge because I am not very good with them and wanted to think outside the box and out of my comfort zone.  I chose a fairly simple one  but still struggled with ideas. Then I spotted a piece of hoarded paper and my idea took off from there !! 

• A piece of double-sided Basic Grey Oxford Study Hall paper was trimmed to fit a pink card base. I cut 2 pieces the exact same size and then cut each of the papers on a diagonal . I cut them so I could have the two patterns of the double-sided paper on the front of the card - the books at the top and the floral at the bottom of this card and the reverse on the next one I make.
• I printed the image with the books and the sentiment from the Teacher no.2 stamp set by Vera Lane Studio  on Neenah Stardust White cardstock.
• I fussy-cut the woman and trimmed the sentiment .
• The images were colored with glitter markers and Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens.
• I adhered the woman to the right side of the card and the sentiment on the upper left. 
• Glossy Accents were added to the lenses of the glasses.

Celeste is much better at Sketch Challenges than I am, so I'm excited to see what she came u with !! You can find her post at  Crafting Junky . Brian made my coffee today in our French Press - standard Folger's coffee with a bit of sugar and some Half & Half. It was actually very good !!

June Cookies - Take 1

I loved the picture for this Challenge because I really did have the BEST Dad ever !! He was my hero, my best friend, my reading buddy. He always made me feel better no matter what and I miss him every day.  I was only lucky enough to have him for 17 years but I cherish every memory of us together. And every year for Father's Day, I make a card that I know he would love. I hope that you love it too !! 

My dad and I were inseparable. He loved to read and passed his love of books on to me. We walked to the library several times a week . I can remember that long before I could actually read,  I would sit with him and hold my book, turning the pages when he did. To this day, I still sometimes find myself wishing I could tell him about a fantastic book that I've just read.  I wonder what he would think of my 2 e-readers . Probably would not be a fan !! My card today celebrates my love for my father and our shared love of books.  I used the perfect digi-stamp sets from Vera Lane Studio :  Father Daughter and Book Lover. 

• I printed the  images of the father, daughter, sentiment and the books on Neenah Stardust White cardstock, and fussy-cut them .  
• The images were colored with Akashiya SAI Watercolor Brush pens and my new fabulous Zebra Mildliner Creative Marking Tools .
• On a black glossy card base, I adhered a piece of outdoorsy paper from a fun paper pad I found at Joanns.
• I cut the sentiment, leaving  room on the right edge for a fun strip of washi. 
• I adhered the books, father, daughter and sentiment to the card base with my Tombow MONO + Adhesive Runner .
• Glossy Accents was applied to the lenses of the glasses .

May Cookies - Take 3

As soon as I saw the Cookie Challenge picture for this post, I immediately thought of a friend's daughter . She is bright and articulate and wants to be a scientist when she grows up .. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she became President of the United States !! Or an astronaut, or a nuclear physicist or maybe even an amazing doctor or nurse. Her possibilities are endless. Her name is Claire and she was my inspiration.  Whatever she chooses to do with her life, I have no doubt that she will make a huge impact !!

I used the fun Super Girl set  from Close To My Heart  that I bought from my amazing friend Chris Franco. You can find her  fabulous creations at  Stamped Blessings . The Super Girl set  is retired but there are plenty of other great products available. I am a pretty good clearance shopper and got the Super Girl stamp AND die set for only $6 !! I hope you like what I created for the Super Girl that I know - Claire !!

• I first embossed a cloud background with an embossing folder onto blue cardstock, then trimmed it down to fit on a 5 x 7 card . The clouds are easier to see on the close-up below these instructions.
• The images were stamped on Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor Paper using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
• I used the matching dies to cut out the girl and WOW images . The sentiment was punched out with a Tag punch.
• I colored the images with my Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens .
• The buildings at the bottom are from a scrap piece of DCWV paper. I cut it to fit at the bottom of the watercolor paper to look like Super Girl was flying over the city.
• I adhered the images to the background using my Scotch Pink ATG Gun.
• Glossy Accents  was used to highlight her glasses.

This was a fun challenge !! I hope that you will be inspired to create a project of your own and link it up before June 13. Coffee & Cards with Deb & Celeste 9/23

Celeste and I are back for the start of Autumn and another collaboration !! Celeste chose our theme for this month and it is something that is near and dear to my heart !! Washi Tape !! I think I am a bit obsessed with this craft supply.I must have hundreds of rolls and I use this supply often. I like to use it on my cards and also to decorate stationery, postcards for my snail mail friends.  When I first started writing about washi tape on Facebook and in Messenger, it always auto-corrected it to Washington. But now after writing it hundreds of times,  it must know exactly what I am trying to say ,because it leaves it alone !! LOL

When I saw the Stella Luna Digi Set from Vera Lane Studio, I fell immediately in love. Not your typical witch, kind of Harry Potter-ish, just a bit quirky !! It was perfect !! And I have been wanting to use this Tim Holtz washi forever. Hope you are as excited about this card as I am !!

• On a piece of white cardstock, I layered strips of washi tape from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology "Materialize" Design Tape Set and wrapped the edges to the back of the cardstock.
• I mounted the washi panel onto a piece of black cardstock, using a Tombow Mono Adhesive + Runner. I think the layered washi looks very much like a piece of patterned paper !!
• I printed the digital images of Stella Luna and her cat on Neenah Stardust White cardstock and then fussy-cut the images. The sentiment is also from the Stella Luna set. 
• Stella Luna and her cat were colored using my Akashiya SAI Watercolor Brush Pens. I didn't smooth out the brush strokes on the cat so that it would look a bit like a gray tabby. 
• I used a pencil eraser dipped in Stampin' Up ink to highlight the eyes. 
• Ranger Inkssentials Glossy Accents were used on the glasses and the cat's eyes. 
• Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue adhered the images to the washi panel.

Tim Holtz Materialize Design Tape Set

Take a look at Celeste's washi creation over at her blog, Crafting Junky. I'm excited to see what she came up with too !! I love how we have 2 totally different styles and can inspire each other to get creative with our themes each month. 

For my coffee this month, I am drinking Pecan Pie coffee with Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer. My guy found this cute Starbucks travel mug in the bedroom when he was going though some bags, so I had to use it !! I often waste a large cup of coffee or else end up reheating it throughout the morning, so this size travel mug is a good size for me.

I'm so glad it is the start of Autumn and after a Hurricane Florence scare and summer temps often reaching near 100 degrees, I am SO looking forward to sweater weather !! See you next month. Coffee & Cards with Deb & Celeste 2/25

This month Celeste and I decided to highlight some of our Favorite Stamps .  This month instead of having a guest blogger, we are telling you about a new blog. My friend Nola Pierce Chandler has designed some stamps ( her first ) for Impression Obsession AND has also just started a blog Snickerdoodle Studios . Of course, I fell in love with her coffee stamps and they are my favorites for today's post !! I also decided to use another of my favorite supplies - Project Life cards. 

• Using the Impression Obsession stamp set Coffee Set / Valentine , I stamped the girl image on a Project Life "Gather"  journal card and the travel mug images on several colors of scrap paper. Memories India Black Ink was my go-to ink.
• A fun striped card base from the American Arts "Shimelle"  boxed card collection added a fun background to the stamped images.
• Brea Reese Markers  were used to color in the images. These are my latest marker purchase and I really LOVE them !! I also used a few Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens.
• I cut a small tan doily to fit in the upper left corner of the journal card and adhered it with my Tombow MONO+ Adhesive Runner . I then adhered the journal card at a diagonal on the right side of the card base. 
• I stamped my initial, Celeste's and Nola's on the travel mugs. 
• The travel mugs were fussy-cut and popped up on the left side of the card base with Tombow Foam Tabs .
• Ranger Glossy Accents added the appearance of glass to the lenses. 
• A Wink of Stella Glitter Clear Brush Marker added some shimmer to her hair.

Teal, pink and purple are the colors of the Thyroid Cancer ribbon.. I am a 3 year survivor and find myself using these colors often in my projects. They seemed perfect for this card !! My coffee for today is Cinnamon Churro  in a beautiful Starbucks cup that was designed by English fashion designer, Charlotte Ronson. I actually didn't now who she was, but just fell in love with the cup !!
