Coffee & Cards with Deb & Celeste 11/13

Welcome back to the blog collaboration of  Deb and Celeste. We had so much fun every week in the month of October that we decided to continue this once a month. Also my friend, Lynne had asked if she could play along with us and that gave us the idea to have a monthly guest. So for the month of November, our guest is the wonderful artist, Lynne Mizera.. We hope that you will visit all three of our blogs and leave us some comments. Lynne got to choose the theme for this month and she picked SNOW.. I hope that you like my card -- the weather is finally getting chilly here, so I put on some holiday music and created this for you.

  •  On a Kraft card base, I first stamped the Hello Flags banner from Hero Arts on the left upper side of the card.  The Sassy Snow stamp set from Skipping Stones Design had the perfect snowperson and sentiment for my card. Both images were stamped using Memories Black India Ink
  • I then cut a piece of white glitter paper to make a hill for my snowperson and the trees and adhered it with my Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue
  • The  banner was stamped on Merry Little Christmas paper from My Mind's Eye. I adhered several different patterns to the banner and also used some of the banners at the bottom of the card as trees !!
  • Two red candy dots were used as tree-toppers and several snowflakes from my stash were also placed around the snowman. I used glitter markers to highlight the scarf, mittens and nose.
  • I also used the Sassy Snow stamp set for the Skipping Stones Blog Hop this weekend.

Today's card -- in the spirit of SNOW -- was brought to you by a cup of Santa's White Christmas Coffee  ( by Barnie's Coffee Kitchen ) and my 2011 Starbucks Holiday Fa-La-La-La ceramic tumbler. I rarely use this tumbler but this was a great opportunity to get it down off the shelf and enjoy my coffee in it !! Head on over to  Crafting Junky to see what Celeste did with our SNOWY theme. And be sure to see what Lynne Mizera did with the theme she chose -- you can find her post here at Lynne's Art World. Lynne is an amazing mixed-media artist and her blog is full of fun from her studio, garden and kitchen, We are thrilled that she asked to join us as our guest this month !!! Take a moment to sign up to follow our blogs when you are checking out our cards. Celeste and I will be back next month with another guest .. And who knows, it could be YOU !!

Thank you once again for visiting Meticulosity !!

Fall Into A Good Time

I love this time of year with all of the gorgeous colors and awareness of all that we have to be thankful for.  Our Skipping Stones Design Challenge for October is running a bit behind but I wanted to share my card and will update this post if we get the challenge / link-up completed.

Earlier this week, I used this stamp set - I'd Pick You - by stamping the larger floral design and then cutting out banners, This time, I have used the entire smaller floral stamp for this card

  • I stamped the floral design from "I'd Pick You" onto a piece of off-white cardstock and also stamped the floral petals 3 more times on 3 different autumn-colored patterned papers. I then fussy-cut the 3 floral petal images.
  • The leaves of the image were colored using different shades of Green Stampin' Up markers.  I then placed the 3 floral images onto the cardstock, centering the middle one on top of the stamped image and arranging the other 2 on the right and left side.
  • I had cut the off-white cardstock to fit on a very dark brown card base. At the top of that piece with the stamped floral image, I placed a piece of Tim Holtz Ideology "Materialize" Design Tape. I then adhered that entire image to the card base with Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue.
  • The Pumpkin Spice paper pad by Craft Smith has to be one of my favorite paper collections. They are available at Michaels and I will admit that I bought 7 different pads when I went there about 6 weeks ago !! YES, a bit paper-obsessed here !! All of the Autumn sayings were cut from a piece of the Pumpkin Spice paper. I arranged ( and arranged and re-arranged ) the sayings around the stamped image until I had them exactly how I wanted them on the cardstock. They were adhered with a Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Runner.
  • To finish the card, I placed 2 wooden buttons on the card. I have been hoarding these buttons by Stampin' Up forever !! I tied a piece of twine through the larger button.

Thank you so much for visiting Meticulosity. Please leave me a comment and also follow me if you aren't already. I hope this blog post inspires you to  create a project that shows why you are grateful.

Skip {ping} into Fall

Welcome to my second official Blog Hop as a Stamp Tramp for the fabulous Skipping Stones Design. As we enjoy our Fall weather here in Virginia Beach,  the scariest thing on our minds is NOT that Halloween is approaching --- it is Hurricane Matthew !! Hoping our area fares well, along with everyone in the path.. My project for today's Hop uses a sentiment & the doodled bird image from the Best of Birds stamp set. Take a look at all of the wonderful supplies available at the  Skipping Stones Store. This stamp set  is great for any season but today, I used rich Fall colors.  You might have gotten here from Jessie's blog; but just in case you haven't, the line-up is listed at the bottom of this post .. As you can see, I used an embroidery hoop to create a scene for a friend. I was an avid counted cross-stitch fanatic in the past and have many hoops and tons of fabric, so I enjoy putting them to good use in my stamping life..

  • I first placed some linen fabric in a wooden hoop. If you do not have fabric, you can always use paper cut to the size of the hoop and glued to the outside rim.  The sentiment was stamped on white cardstock using Memories Black India Ink and then the background was colored using a foam applicator and a Tim Holtz Wild Honey Distress Ink Pad . I adhered the sentiment to the larger piece of fabric and then that piece to the fabric in the hoop.
  • I fussy-cut 4 of the doodled birds and color-blocked 3 with Distress Inks. The 4th was colored using a combination of Distress Markers and Stabilo pens. They were then attached to the fabric in the hoop using large Glue Dots.
  • Along the top of the sentiment, I alternated used 3 Prima flowers and 2 square Making Memories Crystal brads. A round brad from Making Memories completed the project at the bottom of the hoop.
There will be a giveaway of a stamp set of your choice to one lucky person. All you have to do is comment on each member's post and subscribe to each of our blogs. I hope that you enjoy all of our projects for this Hop !!

A Hop and a Skip {ping}

Welcome to my first official Blog Hop as a member of the Skipping Stones Design Team.. I am thrilled to be included in such fabulous company. We will be having a Blog Hop each month on the second Saturday of the month. You might have gotten here from Cornelia's blog. If not, the line-up is listed at the bottom of this page. For my first project, I chose to make a card with one of my favorite themes - Coffee !!

I  used Faber Castell Whipped Spackle and a Dylusions stencil to create a background on a piece of Pebbles "Lakeside" paper. I then sprinkled the background with Mixed Berries glitter. The border at the top of the card was created using the Sizzix "On the Edge" Scallops die. The sentiment was also stamped on Pebbles paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink..

The 2 stamp sets I used are Funny Coffee Vol. #1 for the sentiment and that gorgeous coffee cup  from Coffee Vol. #2. The cup was stamped on Strathmore Mixed-Media paper  with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the cup with a combination of Ranger Distress Markers and Faber Castell PITT Artist pens. I mounted the finished piece on a Kraft card base . Kraft cardstock is my all-time favorite !!  The sentiment and cup were adhered to the background using Tombow Foam tabs, A bit of Clear Wink of Stella adds a fantastic highlight to the petals..

Skipping Stones Design will be offering blog candy to one lucky person during this September Hop - a stamp set of your choice.
