June Cookies - Take 2

The second June Challenge at the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie Challenge Blog is all about a warm weather treat . But if you are an ice cream lover, I'm sure you enjoy it all year long !! The Inspiration photo made my mouth water. I'm excited to see what my teammates come up with. 

I can remember walking hand in hand with my dad to the ice cream parlor in the small Pennsylvania town I grew up in. And I can still hear the music of the ice cream truck as it came up my street !! That is what inspired me to make this particular card.

• When I saw that scalloped background paper, it reminded me of popsicle sticks and I knew I had to use it for this Challenge. It is from an older DCWV paper pad "Sunday Afternoon".
• I cut a piece of turquoise cardstock to fit slightly larger than the 4.5 x 6.5 background paper and adhered it with Tombow MONO Adhesive+.
• I printed the digi stamp of the ice cream truck and the sentiment from the Things With Wheels set by Vera Lane Studio.  They were printed on my favorite Neenah Stardust White cardstock. 
• The truck was fussy cut and then colored with a combination of Brea Reese markers and Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens. 
• I popped the ice cream truck up off the paper  on the lower left side with Tombow foam tabs and adhered the sentiment and scalloped edge top center  with Tombow MONO Adhesive+.
• The ice cream was colored pink then highlighted with glitter. 
• 3 coordinating rhinestones were placed on the banner for some shimmer. 
• I will be sending this through the mail as a postcard in a clear envelope.

Coffee & Cards with Deb & Celeste 12/17

It's hard to believe that 2017 is coming to a close. I can't tell you how much fun I've had with this Blog Collaboration !! Celeste and I have both invited friends to be our guests and this month is NO exception. Michael Trent lives in Sao Paulo, Brazil and is an amazing artist . You can follow him at his blog - World of Michael Trent . We met through our love of coffee and coffee cards and have been friends since August 2016. We have the same snarky sense of humor and I'm thrilled he's joining us. He is an amazing papercrafter, works wonders with Sharpies, works with several Design Teams and I'm sure he's created something wonderful for our collaboration. As our guest, he picked the theme for us and he chose LOVE... 

I immediately thought of my guy, Brian but he hates glitter, so that idea was out. Then I thought of coffee and books and cats and snail mail and hearts nd Christmas. Christmas -- that gave me another idea. What do I love at this time of year ?? They make me smile and I had a stamp set that had never been inked up sooooooooooooooo -- my card was born !! I love Ugly Christmas Sweaters !! It helped that Michel and I had a hilarious conversation about that very topic this past week.. I hope you like my take on the theme of LOVE ....

• On a Prima tag, I used Faber-Castell Whipped Spackle with a Stampers Anonymous "Festive" stencil to highlight the top of the card. I had trimmed the tag to fit on a light brown card base.
• I stamped the sweaters and sentiment from Mommy Lhey "Doodled Sweater" with Memories India Black Ink onto Neenah Stardust White cardstock . I also stamped the tree sweater onto a scrap piece of blue paper. 
• The sweaters & sentiment garland were colored with a variety of my favorite Distress markers, Glitter pens, PITT Artist pens and a watercolor brush using my Distress markers brushed on an acrylic block. I also drew stars on the treetops. 
• Fairy Dust Glitter was sprinkled onto the whipped spackle when it was first applied.
• A piece of Christmas twine was wrapped around the tag several times then tied in a knot. I am bow-challenged, so you will rarely see me tie a bow for my projects !!
• Tombow MONO Adhesive/Permanent was used to adhere the card front to the base card.
• I popped the sweaters and sentiment up on the card front with Tombow Foam Tabs .

I am drinking an amazing  coffee today - a Brazilian blend sent to me by Michael - from my latest Starbucks cup. I had posted a photo of this mitten cup on my Facebook page, stating that I did NOT need another cup. But so many of my friends "enabled" me with positive comments that I just had to have it. I did clean my cupboard of 4 old  ( and I mean very old ) coffee cups, so I didn't feel so guilty. Plus, I need fun cups for these monthly blog posts !!

Coffee & Cards with Deb & Celeste 7/30

Celeste & I are back for our collaboration and our theme this month is summery / nautical. It's been crazy hot here in Virginia Beach lately and now that it is finally cooling off, it's been raining non-stop !! We don't have a guest this month  ( taking a summer hiatus ) but will be inviting fellow bloggers to join us again in September.

I have posted every day this week as the Growing in Unity girl with Unity Stamp Company, so I have been on creative overload. My card this week uses stamps from a British magazine - Creative Stamping. I searched bookstores near me and finally ordered the magazine from a shop in Britain. I wasn't disappointed - these stamps are incredible. I also used my new Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to do the stamping for this card and really loved it .. This pirate caught my eye and I had to make today's card with it !!

• On a turquoise ombre' card base, I adhered the AHOY/anchor panel from the DCWV "Hey Sailor" stack, using a Tombow MONO adhesive runner.
• I stamped the pirate image and sentiment on Strathmore Watercolor paper and the porthole image on a piece of blue woodgrain paper from Paper Studio at Hobby Lobby. Memories India Black ink was used to stamp all images. 
• The porthole was fussy-cut, including the opening in the center. I trimmed the pirate image to fit behind the porthole. The sentiment was cut with a square punch.
• The pirate was colored with Distress Markers & Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens. My Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen added some highlights to the pirate's beard and tattoo. 
• I adhered the pirate behind the porthole with Tombow MONO Liquid Glue and then the that completed mage to the upper area of the AHOY panel. 
• A strip of gold glitter washi was placed across the top of the sentiment, which was then popped up with foam dimensionals onto the left side of the porthole.

My coffee today is being served in a small Starbucks cup that I found on clearance after the holidays last year. I've been making iced coffee and keeping it in my fridge lately. I'm drinking Iced Caramel Custard coffee with Sweet Cream creamer . I sometimes waste more coffee than I drink so this small cup is perfect for me !!
