June Cookies - Take 2

The second June Challenge at the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie Challenge Blog is all about a warm weather treat . But if you are an ice cream lover, I'm sure you enjoy it all year long !! The Inspiration photo made my mouth water. I'm excited to see what my teammates come up with.

I can remember walking hand in hand with my dad to the ice cream parlor in the small Pennsylvania town I grew up in. And I can still hear the music of the ice cream truck as it came up my street !! That is what inspired me to make this particular card.

  • When I saw that scalloped background paper, it reminded me of popsicle sticks and I knew I had to use it for this Challenge. It is from an older DCWV paper pad "Sunday Afternoon".
  • I cut a piece of turquoise cardstock to fit slightly larger than the 4.5 x 6.5 background paper and adhered it with Tombow MONO Adhesive+.
  • I printed the digi stamp of the ice cream truck and the sentiment from the Things With Wheels set by Vera Lane Studio.  They were printed on my favorite Neenah Stardust White cardstock.
  • The truck was fussy cut and then colored with a combination of Brea Reese markers and Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens
  • I popped the ice cream truck up off the paper  on the lower left side with Tombow foam tabs and adhered the sentiment and scalloped edge top center  with Tombow MONO Adhesive+.
  • The ice cream was colored pink then highlighted with glitter.
  • 3 coordinating rhinestones were placed on the banner for some shimmer.
  • I will be sending this through the mail as a postcard in a clear envelope.

The sponsor for this Challenge is Elizabeth Bell . They have a wide variety of fun stamps and will be providing a prize to 1 lucky person who links up a project for this Challenge. My teammate's projects can be found HERE. Please take a look and leave us a comment . Challenge # 97 will be open from June 28 - July 11. Link up your ice cream inspiration !!

Coffee & Cards with Deb & Celeste - 6/24

Once again, Celeste and I are collaborating on our challenge. And for June, we've again invited our friend Michael Trent back to join in with us. He is a New Yorker living in Brasil and is an amazing papercrafter. He can be found at World of Michael Trent and also on You Tube.  Celeste had suggested either a sketch challenge or else a masculine card. I said we should do both !! So I chose one of the sketches she had found and we decided to put a masculine spin on it. I am not very good at sketch challenges but this one did come easier than the last one we did. I am sure you will get 3 very different projects from us.

I really had no idea what I was going to come up with when I sat down to make my project. I have been involved in a few postcard swaps lately so I decided first to do a postcard. It's really not any different than a card, except it doesn't open up !!

  • I adhered a piece of July 4 paper from a Tim Holtz paper pad to a plain kraft postcard. I cut the paper so the July,  1776 and July 4 images were visible.
  • On a piece of Neenah Stardust White cardstock, I stamped the USA Blueprint image by Tim Holtz with Staz-On St. Valentine ink
  • The large tag was made with dotted navy blue cardstock and the smaller tag was from a piece of striped paper. I cut the navy tag to approx 3/4 of the card length & the striped tag so only a small area would show under the USA image.
  • I distressed the edges of the USA image.
  • All items were adhered with Tombow MONO Adhesive+.
  • On the address side of the postcard, I placed a few coordinating July 4 paper scraps. I will mail this postcard in a clear envelope.

Please take a look at Celeste's project over at Crafting Junky  And you will find Michael's at World of Michael Trent. I want to thank Michael for joining us again . He is as coffee-obsessed as I am and I really enjoy our long chats across the miles !!

This time, I don't have a coffee cup; I have a French Press to show you !! It was sent to me by my friend Rae and I was so excited by the surprise. I have always wanted to try one but just haven't ever taken the plunge  ( pun intended ) !! I'm waiting until Brian and I have a day off together to actually try it out. Do you have a French Press ?? I know some people swear by theirs. Let me know if you do and if you have any tips for me... Isn't it just so pretty ?!?!?!

Thank you again for visiting Meticulosity.

Sharing My heART

It's no secret that I love the art of letter writing. I absolutely love Snail Mail and connecting with friends near and far by mail. One of the projects I always look forward to being involved in is the Global Postcard Art Swap ( heART exchange ) . They have exchanges 3-4 times a year and you are given 3 people to send handmade postcards to. The theme for this swap was Nature Quotes. My postcards this time are being sent to Mexico, Wisconsin and Georgia.

  • The beautiful floral design from Stampendous was stamped onto some old dictionary pages, a wood grain paper and also some patterned paper.
  • I fussy cut the flowers from the patterned papers and adhered them to the stamped images on the dictionary pages.
  • The quote was printed from my computer. I have always loved this quote - it reminds me to relax and breathe !! Everything happens in its own time.
  • I adhered the dictionary pages to plain kraft postcards that I purchased on Amazon. 50 postcards for $9.99. A great deal and my favorites to create with !!
  • The leaves were colored with various green shades of Faber-Castell PITT Artist pens.
  • I adhered the quote to the postcards and then added some borders from a Tim Holtz "Scallops" On The Edge die.
  • Using my MISTI, I stamped another favorite quote from a Stampin' Up set on the opposite side  of the postcard.
  • I placed the postcards in clear envelopes and sent them on their way .

I hope you've enjoyed seeing my postcards for the Global Postcard heART Swap. If you are a lover of Snail Mail and creativity, I hope you will consider joining in on the next Swap. Louise Gale is a fantastic hostess and amazing artist.  You can learn more about her HERE.

I received my first postcard from Vicki Oster from Florida. It's a gorgeous hand-drawn scene. It will go up on the board in my studio  for inspiration !!  I love it !!

June Cookies - Take 1

For the June Challenge at If You Give a Crafter a Cookie , we have a beautiful  inspiration picture that is sweet, feminine and maybe even a little bridal. I love how each of our team members show us their take on the Challenge photo and this one is no exception !! I think this Inspiration photo is absolutely gorgeous ..

I have had this amazing Penny Black stamp for awhile and knew it was the one for this challenge. My friend Liz McGuire makes the most gorgeous cards with her Penny Black stamps and I am going to be sending this card to her for inspiring me !!

  • Using Memories India Black Ink, I stamped the Melle Papillion stamp from Penny Black on   Strathmore watercolor paper
  • I colored the image with a variety of my favorite Faber-Castell, Stampin' Up and Brea Reese markers .
  • On a turquoise cardstock card base, I adhered a piece of scrap pink-patterned paper down the left side.
  • I placed the stamped image near the top of the card and adhered it, leaving space at the bottom to adhere a pink border, made with the Scallops On the Edge die by Tim Holtz.
  • Tombow Adhesives were used on all elements, both MONO Aqua Liquid Glue and the MONO Adhesive + .
  • The Happiness die cut is from A Cut Above Dies by Verve who unfortunately is closing down at the end of June. They are having a great sale and I wish them all the best . I am sure I will be posting many fun projects with my Verve stamps for a long time to come !!
  • I added some shimmery highlights with a Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen.

Please take a look at my fellow Design Team Member's projects. I hope you will be inspired to create something and link it to this challenge. Our sponsor is Fred She Said and they will be giving a prize to 1 lucky winner. The challenge lasts 2 weeks so put on your thinking caps and link up a card or tag or journal page, anything you'd like !!
